2015 Mercedes Benz GL-Class

For the 2015 model year the entire range of Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV has seen a number of major changes, starting with what is hidden under the hood. For example the GL450 4Matic receives a brand new twin turbo V6 engine that not only replaces the previous V8 engine, but also puts out just as much power while maintaining better fuel economy rating. All but the GL350 BlueTEC has been given the ECO stop/start technology and a number of items that had been switched from being available as options are back to being standard items. While the GL-Class is the largest SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, it offers the same incredible level of luxury found in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL350 BlueTEC

While the GL350 BlueTEC may be the base model of the GL-Class, there is very little that can be described as base in this luxurious SUV. Under the hood is a 240 horsepower, 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine that produces 455 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with Mercedes-Benz 4matic^® all-wheel drive and a seven speed automatic transmission that comes standard with a manual mode. This powerful diesel engine is no slouch when it comes to fuel economy, boasting an EPA rating of 19 mpg in town and a full 26 mpg when out on the highway. The luxurious cabin comes equipped with power front seats covered in long lasting MB-Tex^® upholstery and lumbar support. The HD radio off and COMAND^® system features hands-free BlueTooth^® interface and a centralized controller.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL450 4MATIC^®

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL450 features a 3.0 liter V6 turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 362 horsepower and a healthy 369 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and can propel the GL450 from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 6.6 seconds. It features the Mercedes-Benz ECO Start/Stop^® system that is designed to help improve overall fuel economy. With the change from a V8 engine and the new start/stop system, overall fuel economy is significantly better achieving a combined EPA rating of 19 mpg. Like the GL350 BlueTEC, this model features the centralized COMAND^® system with HD radio, MB-Tex^® upholstery, and power front seats.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL550 4MATIC^®

If 362 horsepower is not enough for you, consider the GL550 that features a twin turbocharged 4.6 liter V8 engine capable of producing a stout 429 horsepower and huge 516 lb-ft of trailer hauling torque. This power is transmitted to the ground via a paddle shifter controlled seven speed automatic transmission with manual settings. Along with the bigger engine comes a set of 21 inch rims, a sporty exterior, and soft close doors. On the inside you will find an interior that is as luxurious as any vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz inventory. Keyless ignition, a tri-zone climate control system, and heated and cooled front cup holders add those little extra touches for which Mercedes-Benz has always been known.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG

As with any Mercedes-Benz wearing the AMG trademark, the 2015 GL63 AMG offers the most power of the four models. With a 5.5 liter twin turbocharged V8 capable of producing an incredible 550 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque, the GL63 AMG is one of the most powerful full-size luxury SUVs on the market. Along with this powerful V8 engine comes an AMG tuned seven-speed automatic transmission that bolsters fuel economy to a combined EPA rating of 14 mpg, at the same time the 550 horses push the GL63 AMG from 0 to 60 mph in an incredible 4.8 seconds.
